- 1956: Prof. XIE Xide, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, founded the discipline ¡°semiconductor physics¡±
- 1984: authorized to cultivate PhD students
- 1988: became a national key discipline
- 1992: the ASIC & System State Key Lab was set up (the only state key lab in IC design in China)
- 1998: included into the national program of ¡°211 projects¡±
- 1999: authorized to confer PhD degrees and establish the post-doctoral research station
- 1999: included in ¡°Cheungkong Scholars Program¡±
- 2000: became ¡°Focus in Focus Discipline¡± of the ¡°Ninth Five-year Plan¡±
- 2001: made one of the 8 state key disciplines in microelectronics in China
- 2002: included into Phase 2 of the national program of ¡°211 projects¡±
- 2003: the School of Microelectronics of Fudan Univ. was founded
- 2004: the ASIC & System State Key Lab passed the evaluation by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation of China and, was made the State Key Lab again
- 2004: set up ¡°the Micro/Nanoelectronics Science and Technology Innovation Platform¡± as a portion of Phase 2 of the ¡°Ninth Five-year Plan¡± approved by the Ministry of Education
